Pottery & Wheel Throwing

Pottery is a handmade process, and every piece is unique.

  • Not every piece created during class will be suitable for firing.

  • Instructors may determine a piece is too fragile or unstable to survive the firing process.

  • Finished pottery typically requires 3–6 weeks before pickup.

  • We will contact you when your work is ready.

Pottery Painting

Each piece is hand-glazed and kiln-fired.

Glaze colors and finishes may vary after firing, making every piece unique.

Fused Glass

Glass behaves differently during firing and can produce beautiful, unexpected results.

Occasionally, glass may shift, move, bubble, or change shape during firing. These are natural characteristics of the fused glass process.

Kiln Policy

Although we take every precaution, kiln firing is inherently unpredictable.

Ceramic and glass pieces may occasionally:

  • Crack or break

  • Warp

  • Develop glaze defects

  • Experience shivering, bubbling, pinholes, or crawling

  • Shift or “jump” during firing

  • Change color or shape

  • Develop other natural kiln-related imperfections

These outcomes are beyond our control and are part of the handmade process.

If a kiln-related issue damages your project, The Painter’s Loft will provide studio credit for the value of the affected project. Because our experiences are handmade and experience-based, we do not offer cash refunds or guarantee identical replacements.

Finished Piece Pickup

We will notify you when your artwork is ready.

Please pick up your finished pieces within 90 days of notification. Due to limited storage space, pieces left beyond 90 days may be donated, recycled, or discarded.

Clothing & Personal Belongings

Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting messy.

For wheel throwing, we recommend:

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Hair tied back

  • Short fingernails

  • Removing jewelry before class

The Painter’s Loft is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.

Photography

From time to time, we may photograph workshops, classes, and events for use on our website and social media. If you prefer not to appear in photos or videos, please let a staff member know when you arrive.
